Brittney Lee - A multi-talented artist

Brittney Lee - illustration, animation, paper art

When you see Brittney Lee's illustration and cut paper work, you can tell that she has been influenced by animation, especially films produced by Walt Disney Studios. Her illustrations feel like film stills, so much so that you can imagine pressing the pause button so that the characters on the screen (or page) spring back into life; singing, dancing, swimming, and even rescuing the princess from the tower.

When Brittney Lee was six years old, she watched The Little Mermaid at the cinema, she quickly realised that 'mermaid' wasn't a feasible occupation, so she picked the next best thing, 'animator'. She then proceeded to watch every animated film that was released after that, on top of watching every 'Making of' Special on television and reading every book and article on the subject of animation that she could find.

As she became older, she enrolled in every art class that she could find, she also worked with her high school teachers to create extra independent studies in art for her fellow students. After finishing high school, she attend the Rochester Institute of Technology's School of film and animation in New York.

Brittney works in a variety of media including watercolour, ink, gouache and collage. She also works digitally in Photoshop. My favourite images that she creates are the paper cut pieces, although I find all of her work to be beautifully imaginative.

See more of Brittneys paper sculpture and illustration work on her blog, and purchase prints of her artwork in her Etsy shop.
