It feels sometimes that I am always decorating my flat, it also feels like I am always looking for decorating 'inspiration' on the internet too. The first statement is not true, I am just slow at decorating, so that is why it feels like a 'constant' chore. The second statement however is very true. And not only do I like to think about ideas on how to decorate the flat that I live in, I have also got to the stage where (in my mind) I am decorating a flat (or house) that I haven't even stepped foot in yet, let alone lived in. That makes me odd doesn't it?
Anyway - whilst I was browsing the internet in search for ideas of what colour to paint my floorboards, I found this post on Decor Hacks. The photograph is of the floors in Kate Spade in California, and according to the post, the colourful stripes are made from strips of vinyl tape.
This looks quite easy to do and will probably be a lot less messy and time consuming that laying down masking tape on the floor before painting on stripes. However, whether it will be hardwearing in high traffic areas such as hallways will probably have to be considered first before trying it out. At least when you paint the floor, you can protect it with a hard wearing varnish - like boat varnish - afterwards.
I have searched for vinyl floor tapes and found some in Palos Sports and Ape Tape but there are probably lots of other places on the internet that you can buy these.
I really love the overall affect, it looks colourful and fun, and if you were skillful, or had enough patience, you could probably come up with some really striking designs.
