Majolo

Jiang Pengyi, a graduate of the Beijing Institute of Art and Design, creates the most captivating and addictive photographic images. His photographs of cities and massive skyscrapers, reduced to miniature proportions, communicate his thoughts on excessive urbanisation, redevelopment and demolition in Beijing city.

Jiang has taken the high-rise apartments and contemporary skyscrapers of modern China and set them against a contrasting backdrop of derelict buildings and vacant rooms with belong to the old world. The results are eerie and beautiful in equal measure.
