I just bought a new mobile phone. I didn't really want to. I was happy with my old phone, it made phone calls and it received phone calls - perfect. But it kept on freezing and doing other 'funny, unexplainable' things.
My old phone was a Sony Ericsson Cybershot K550i. It had buttons instead of a touch screen and you had to manually open up the cover for the camera. Anyway, I thought it was cute.
My new phone is a Samsung Tocco Icon. I can access Twitter and Facebook as well as checking up on my email. But to me the only really exciting part is the larger screen which means I can spend hours looking for really cool wallpapers to put on it (remember, this is researching not procrastinating).
I searched the internet for free wallpaper sites for mobile phones and saw the usual ones with celebrities, cars, women (ahem) and Hello Kitty. Then I found this really cool website, Poolga (pronounced "pool-gah"). Poolga is a website full of incredible images, mostly illustration, graphic design and typography - all perfectly proportioned to look stunning on any mobile device. They say on the website that the wallpapers are deisgned for i-Phones and i-Pads, but I found them to work perfectly on my mobile phone.
If you are an artist or graphic designer, you can also submit your artwork to be considered to go on the site.
I currently have Croc Monsieur by artist Peskimo on my phone. Be warned however, this website is seriously addictive.
Majolo is the online creative journal and sketchbook of UK based illustrator Marie Josie Louise.
