Artist and blogger Ed Piskor has been cartooning professionaly in print form since 2005, starting off drawing American Spledor comics written by Harvey Pekar.
Ed writes in his blog Wizzywig Comics how whilst modern comic books use a colour palette of millions of colours, once upon a time, older comics used a far more limited palette of only 64. He describes in his blog entry that he feels that there is a total abuse of colour and computer effects in most modern comics. He also feels that with a more 'sparse' set of colours, the artist was forced to be more inventive with the colours that they used.
Using an old 64 colour guide, he put together a Photoshop version which you can download from his website as a CMYK PSD file. Go to the article to read more and to download the zip file.
Majolo is the online creative journal and sketchbook of UK based illustrator Marie Josie Louise.
