Category: My Artwork
This is a birthday card that I designed for a customer's brother. The brief given was to create a design featuring a mixed-race boy playing basketball. I really enjoyed working on this card, and I'm really pleased with the end result, especaily the cut-paper basketball.
My dream is to work as a freelance illustrator, and to be able to make a living from doing something that I absolutely love. The first step is to realise what you want to do, the next step, which unfortunatley is sligthly steeper, is working out just exactly how to achieve your goal. So, I'm starting off small, making greetings cards for friends, and friends of friends. The stage I'm at is helping me to get confidence in what I do as well as developing a style that will be recognisable as mine. The next step after this will be to start selling work on the internet, which will involve choosing my favourite designs and getting some short-runs printed.
I like the idea of using traditional prinitng techniques like letterpress. I have found one company online that I like the look of called Blush who do limited edition art prints and greetings cards, so hopefuly they will be able to work with my designs.
