Majolo

When I received the brief for this card to 'design something with cows', I have to admit that my brain temporarily went 'awsdmehblubparppft'. And then I remembered this open-air art exhibition called the Elephant Parade where hundreds of large elephant sculptures were decorated by artists and desigers and then let loose onto the streets of London. Here are a few images from that exhibition that I particularly like:

• Cloudy sky

From that memory, I came up with the idea to imagine the cow in the design to look like a huge painted statue. So I played around with the scale of the animal, trying to make it appear as large as possible on the card. I toyed with the idea of using collage to give the finished piece a 3-dimensional feel, but in the end I stuck to my favourite drawing pens and coloured markers format.
